Keep watering your roses

The importance of keeping water up to your roses:

I may say to you that you need to keep watering your roses or keep the water up to your roses, but at the same time, you need to be mindful of the amount of water you give them. Too much water or over watering your roses can be detrimental to your roses. Too much water may lead to root rot or other issues and then we need to try and turn that around.

But the reasons you need to keep watering your roses ensures your roses remain healthy and continue to grow. Watering is so important for:

Nutrient Transfer – this means that water acts as a carrier for essential nutrients for the rose’s can, stem and flower growth.

Root Development – Water also encourages the roots to grow deep into the soil, making your roses more resilient to drought and the different temperature fluctuations we experience here in Western Australia.

Disease – Water helps prevent disease and if you water at the base of the plant especially early in the morning, the water will help prevent fungal diseases like black spot and powdery mildew by keeping the foliage dry.

In the warmer months when Chilli Thrip is found on your roses, watering or spraying your roses will help deter chilli thrips especially if the infestation is caught early. Chilli Trips hate water so the best way to spray is using a forceful spray from a hose and target the underside of the leaves. This process will help dislodge them.

Unfortunately, water by itself is not often enough to eliminate the infestation … this is when I can help with a special spray that I make up and use with natural ingredients. Rose Quality – using adequate water for your roses will help with the growth of your roses. Water will also help with the length of time your roses bloom and colours.
