Why do I need to hand water my roses?
The importance of hand watering your roses and other plants in Western Australia in the Summer months is extremely important.
Check your council websites to find the water restrictions that may be in place for your local areas.
Hand watering roses in summer is vital because the climate is hot and dry during the summer months. And the warmer months are upon us. I know it is Spring, but the weather will warm up incredibly and your roses and other plants in your garden depend on you to care for them.
There may be restrictions in place for sprinklers that are automatically set. But you can still hand water. Hand watering is often much better than automatic irrigation systems because hand watering delivers moisture directly to the root system and it allows you to control the soaking that you give it. Be mindful not to over water and drown the roots.
The best time to water your roses by hand during the warmer months is early in the morning. This will allow the foliage to dry out by evening, and it will then help reduce the risk of fungal diseases.
If you need to water in the evening during extreme hot weather in Summer can help your roses absorb the moisture (water) overnight and it also helps your roses recover overnight …
