Many people stress about pruning their roses at the wrong time of the year. However realistically you will not kill your roses by pruning. So, stop stressing.
Having said that, the best time of the year in Perth to prune your roses is late winter / early spring. That is when I would suggest that we do the full prune of your roses.
During the rest of the year, I recommend a light prune and focus on removing dead, damages or diseased canes and deadheading spent blooms to encourage more flowering.
After pruning it is important to continue watering your roses, doing this will help stimulate bushes to grow and you may see large blooms. Always remember though not to over water and if the weather changes to severe and nasty weather conditions this may affect the growth of your roses and in some cases you may see some disease or pests appearing.
If you would like to learn how to care for your roses all year round, please call me and I will organise time to teach you how to care for your roses.
