Different types of roses

There are many different types of roses around the world. And there are different types of roses that will grow or are found in our local areas.

If you are unsure of what would grow best in your garden, there are several ways to make that decision.

  1. Talk to me. I can come and have a look at your garden and from there I can recommend what would grow best in the garden that you are establishing.
  2. Take a look around at what other gardens and take a note of the different types of roses that are growing and how they look in those gardens.
  3. Think about whether you want to have roses bushes, stand alone roses, climbing roses etc.
  4. Also look for a rose garden grown by your regional council. You can take a walk through those gardens and see what is growing at the time and what looks good.
  5. Again, call me and I will come and talk to you.

My favourite rose is the iceberg. I like it because it is easy to look after, it has beautiful white blooms, it is disease resistant and apart from it being a low maintenance rose, it is also very appealing in different types of gardens.

I like the way it appears very bushy but at the same time, you can plant it in your garden as well as along pathways.

The iceberg rose is best grown in full sun and well drained soils. It can tolerate light shade, but it grows best in full sun and there is less chance of disease when in full sun.

Of course, there are other types of roses that can be grown in Perth, and they include hybrid teas, floribundas, climbing roses and heritage roses and of my favourite iceberg roses. Standard roses will also grow in Perth.

In my next post, I will explain the different types of roses…
